For the second time, PS Energy Group will be supplying fuel to power the generators for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2022 (SGP). The SGP utilizes generators to power the race circuit’s lighting system; the Padang stage where the biggest names in entertainment hold concerts; and some of the hospitality suites, activity booths, and F&B stalls and equipment. PS Energy had also supported the F1 night race when it was last held in 2019.

In keeping with the SGP’s undertaking to reduce the carbon footprint of the race and adopt more sustainable business model, approximately a third of what PS Energy will be providing for this year’s event is alternative fuel.

The company has partnered with ExxonMobil to deliver the high-performance Esso Diesel Efficient B7 (EDE B7). The EDE B7 is made-up of seven percent (7%) biodiesel and ninety-three percent (93%) specially formulated diesel from ExxonMobil. The biodiesel component supplied by PS Energy is produced from used cooking oil.

According to Patrick Ng, Executive Director at PS Energy, “Biodiesel not only replaces diesel as an alternative fuel to power engines and generators, but it supports circular economy by reusing waste oil that would otherwise end up in incineration facilities. Most importantly, using biodiesel helps to reduce overall lifecycle greenhouse gases.”

For its part, ExxonMobil developed EDE as an advanced formulation engineered to reduce fuel consumption while cleaning fuel injectors.

Shaun Chan, Singapore Commercial Sales Manager for ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, said: “We are proud to work with our authorized reseller PS Energy to offer our advanced formulation performance biodiesel to our customers in Singapore, which will improve fuel efficiency and help our customers in their journey to achieving net-zero ambitions.”

The supply of fuel is just one part of how PS Energy is supporting the F1 night race. The company has deployed a complete fueling set-up of efficient fuel distribution network and fuel dispensing stations equipped with remote sensors, which makes it easy to monitor and refill fuel supply at several locations dispersed within the circuit.

This, according to Patrick, is “to make sure that there is no disruption to the fuel supply of this most exciting and thrilling event.”

The SGP F1 Night Race runs at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from 30 September to 2 October 2022.
